2017 Back to School Drive

Priority Group is hosting a Back to School Drive for The Night’s Shield Children’s Shelter in West Frankfort, Illinois.

The shelter is a private, non-profit organization that provides a 24-hour emergency shelter for abused, neglected and/or abandoned children for the entire state.  The Night’s Shield accepts both male and female children from ages newborn to 18 years. The children are provided food, clothing, medical care, education, and weekly activities.

All donations can be dropped off at Priority Staffing Group’s Marion location from July 24th to August 9th during business hours. Please contact Robyn with any questions about the school drive.

Chris Nichols Joins Young Professionals Committee

Priority Group’s Murfreesboro office is developing in the community by way of its team members. Chris Nichols, Director of Business Development, was just named a committee member for the MT SHRM Young Professionals group.

 

MT SHRM is the Middle Tennessee chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management. The Young Professionals group is an affiliate of that chapter. Each quarter, the Young Professionals host a happy hour event of open networking for HR professionals early in their career.

 

June 1st is the next Happy Hour event. Chris Nichols has worked with the rest of the planning committee to put on this event, which is free for all MT SHRM members and their guests. However, registration will still be required for all attendees. Register here

 

“I’m really excited about joining a group of intelligent, forward-thinking individuals,” Chris said. “I look forward to seeing the growth we can have with young HR professionals in Middle Tennessee.”

 

The networking event will be held at SOUTH in Nashville from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on June 1st. Individuals will purchase their own drinks; complementary appetizers will be provided.

Memorial Day Celebration – City of Marion

Priority Group is collaborating with the City of Marion on a Memorial Day event at Ray Fosse Park on Monday, May 29th.

The partnership, spearheaded by Priority Group’s CEO, Gail Lannom, happens every year. The free event is family friendly with goofy golf, swimming, antique cars and much more throughout the day.

The only cost to attendees is food from event vendors and the chicken dinner, which requires a ticket that must be purchased in advance of the event day.

Tickets for the chicken dinner are being sold at Priority Staffing Group’s Marion office now until Friday, May 26th between 8:30am and 4:30pm.

COATS Visual Upgrade

Priority Group strives for an efficient workplace, and because of that, the company just upgraded our staffing software from COATSsql to COATS Visual.

Priority Group sent three representatives to the software company’s headquarters in beautiful Virginia Beach, Virginia from March 22nd to 24th. This three-day program covered all COATS Visual’s features with hands-on instruction.

 

Each of Priority Group’s locations sent one representative: Emily Melvin from Marion, Illinois, Kara Metzger from Vandalia, Illinois, and Ally Farlow from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Each of these women trained and came back prepared to teach what they learned. Now the rest of the team is ready to maneuver through the COATS Visual software as well.

 

“We had a great time at COATS,” said Emily, Placement Specialist. “The whole staff made us feel welcomed and they were very accommodating with our training preferences.”

Ally, Account Manager, said good things about their team as well. “Everyone was easy to work with and answered all our questions. If they did not have an answer, they took the time to go and find it.”

 

Priority Group selected COATS Staffing Software for its ability to track all clients and applicants efficiently. A separate customer relationship management product is not needed when COATS is used to its full potential. It can track history with a client from the initial contact all the way through invoicing.

Priority Group has used this staffing software to stay on top of employee management since opening in 2010. Now we’re very excited to improve that process with COATS Visual. “The upgrade is more user friendly and has a lot of new function that will make everything from sales to operations much smoother within the system,” Ally said.

 

We think some of the most noteworthy features are resume parsing, direct emailing, grid customization, drag/drop features and easier searching.

Workers’ Compensation Symposium

On March 9th, men and women from throughout southern Illinois joined at the John A Logan College for the 2017 Workers’ Compensation Symposium. Lindzey Barger and Gail Barger Lannom represented Priority Group at the event.

 

“We set up as a vendor and met many potential clients,” Gail said. “We got to network with existing clients too.”

 

The event, put on by WORKcare.ready.well, was for experts to teach the best practices in prevention and injury–navigation management. “Educational information was presented that will help with managing our day to day workers’ comp issues,” Gail said.

 

Attendees learned about many issues, including: early intervention and injury management programs, legal benefits and costs of such programs, and how local safety experts deal with workers’ compensation issues.

 

“It was a very nice event with great speakers,” Gail said. “The John A Logan College always has a nice venue for these type of events.”

Pageant Winners

The Queen of The Hill / Ms. Kokopelli Pageant

The Miss Kokopelli/Queen of the Hill Pageant was held on February 25, 2017. The event benefited Angels Cove, the Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

 

BCHFS is a multi-faceted family crisis center consisting of five ministries that work together to protect, heal and restore struggling children and families. Whether it is helping teens in trouble, young women with unplanned pregnancies, or Christian counseling services – BCHFS has been helping those who need it most reach their full potential.

 

Women and girls of various ages competed in one of seven categories: Baby Queen of the Hill, Tiny Queen of the Hill, Little Queen of the Hill, Junior Queen of the Hill, Teen Miss Queen of the Hill, Ms. Kokopelli, and The Queen of the Hill.

The prize for winning was a cash purse based on the number of entries, a crown, a sash, a pin, flowers and a photo session to be featured on the Facebook pages.

 

Megan Jones, COO of Priority Professional Group, was asked to be a judge at the pageant. The committee was looking for a smart, successful business woman that is active in the community to serve as a judge for this year’s event, and Megan was the perfect fit.

 

This is Megan’s second time judging the pageant and it won’t be her last. “The thing that I enjoy about these pageants is that most people believe they are based on external beauty. That is absolutely not true,” Megan said. “It takes a lot more than external looks to make a person truly beautiful. The women who participate in these events are strong, outgoing, charismatic, and truly add value to their communities and to the world.”

 

Priority Group supports and congratulates the winners of the pageant and the organization that this event benefited.

 

Megan adds that “it takes a lot more than a pretty face to be kind and generous and want to make a difference in the world and those are the kind of women you see participating in these pageants. There is so much more to a pageant that people just don’t see until they participate in one.”
