Our 1st scholarship was given to Jacob (Jake) Snell from Vienna, IL. Jake is attending Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, IL and will be majoring in Diesel Mechanics. The scholarship is for $1,000 and was presented by Priority Staffing Group’s President, Heather Goines-Evans, and HR Director, Megan Zeller.
Jake was awarded with this scholarship on the day of his high school graduation. Since 2019, he has operated his own small engine repair shop, working on lawn mowers, weed eaters, Caterpillar dozers, skid steers, and semis. He has worked with many individuals to provide maintenance and repair work, as well as two small trucking companies and two commercial lawn care companies. Prior to that, he worked as a custodian at his local high school and grade schools. Jake gives back to the community by volunteering his time to do lawn care and maintenance for the elderly. He enjoys doing this because he gets to see and talk to people from different areas in the community and says the elderly should not have to be out doing yard work in the heat.
Jake intends to use the scholarship money to help him pay for school, as well as mechanic tools. This financial assistance will allow him to start his education with ease. He is happy to not be stressed about coming up with extra money for his tuition and tools.
We are honored to play a part in Jake’s education and know he will do great things in the future! Not only is he a valuable asset to our local workforce, he has shown a servant’s heart in using his skills to care for the elderly in our community. We couldn’t think of a better recipient for our 1st scholarship award! Congratulations Jake!
