Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Rutherford County Walk to End Alzheimer’s was Saturday, September 21st, 2019.

Priority Staffing Group’s walk team raised money for the cause in the months leading up to the walk. Collectively, our team raised $2,080. Each dollar donated goes toward The Alzheimer’s Association and their mission of providing help to those with Alzheimer’s and caregivers for people with Alzheimer’s. For more info on where the walk dollars go, visit their website.

Promise Garden

The Alzheimer’s Association website explains the significance of the Promise Garden:

“At the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we hold the Promise Garden ceremony to remind us why we fight. An orange flower means you support our cause. Yellow means you’re caring for someone with the disease. Purple means you’ve lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s. And holding a blue flower means you’re currently living with the disease.”

5K Walk for Autism & ADHD

,

April is National Autism Awareness Month and we’re participating in an Autism & ADHD Walk to raise awareness.

Because early diagnosis and treatment are so critical in dealing with these conditions, General Cable elected to work with the Tri-County Special Education (TCSE) school in DuQuoin, Illinois to help purchase much needed sensory equipment. The school provides K-12 education for children from Perry, Jackson and Union Counties.

Priority Staffing Group has sponsored the 5K Walk for Autism & ADHD. The charity event will be held April 14, 2018 at the Southtowne Shopping Center in DuQuoin from 8:30am until noon.

We’ve also encouraged our employees to walk on April 14th. Celesta Bowers, Priority Staffing Group’s Finance Manager, said she is participating because “it is very important to educate others and show support to other families that have children with special needs.”

The goal of the walk is to raise awareness and facilitate better understanding of the needs children with these disorders have. All proceeds that are raised from this event will benefit TCSE to purchase special stools, desks and sensory equipment that is helpful to the education of children with Autism and ADHD.

The event, which included food, drinks, prizes, games, vendors, networking and more, brought in a large number of people from the community, said Lindzey Barger, Priority Group Business Development. “It is always a heartfelt feeling to give back to the communities we live and work in and this event is a great example of that.”

Priority Group was a food vendor and also participated in the putt-putt tournament with a Friday the 13th themed putt-putt hole.
